Olympic Flame on its journey from Belfast to Portrush

The Olympic Flame will travel 126 miles, and be carried by 132 Torchbearers on its journey from Belfast to Potrush.
The Olympic Flame will continue its journey today as it travels 126.85 miles through 21 communities during its first day in Northern Ireland.

The first Torchbearer in Northern Ireland will be Karen Marshall, 31, from Tynan, who will start with the Flame at the Belfast Titanic Centre. Karen was nominated for the voluntary work that she does in the local community.

The Flame will also be carried to the front of Stormont by Geraldine Mccann, 56, from Lurgan, where it will be officially welcomed. Geraldine was nominated through the LOCOG public nomination campaign for her role as an ambassador for cancer awareness.

At the end of Day 16 the Torch will arrive in Potrush for the evening celebration.

The last Torchbearer of the day, Louise Lyons, will light a celebration cauldron on stage at the event which will enable the Olympic Flame to be seen by the audience. Louise was selected for her dedication to football coaching in the area.
